1. Oktoberfest Beers – Fall Seasonal
A lot of beer drinkers agree: Fall is one of the best seasons for our favorite beverage. These malty, colorful beers complement the changing leaves and seem all the more refreshing on those crisp fall days. The Oktoberfest, or Märzen, style began due to complications from brewing beer during the warm summer months. To remedy the problem, the beer was brewed in March (“Märzen”) and stored in caves and cellars throughout the summer. The alcohol content was increased and/or hops were added to help preserve the beer even further. By late September and into October, it was ready to be consumed. The famous Oktoberfest celebration aligns with the much anticipated release of this beer. We offer six varieties from local and regional breweries:

Capital Autumnal Fire-In 1997, the brewmaster modified their Oktoberfest recipe to make a Doppelbock. The fire-red color mirrors the color-explosion of the trees throughout the Autumn season. A multiple award-winning beer and a personal favorite of the “Beer Dudes” at Just Local Food.
2. Back-in-season & New Beers
Goose Island recently released a 22oz size bottle for their two Belgian-Style Reserve Ales. With an appearance like a bottle of wine, these exceptional beers are a great complement for a special dinner :

3. Surly Update
Beer from the
Surly Brewing Company (Brooklyn Center, MN) has been available in Wisconsin for a while now, but only on tap. Unfortunately, the 4-packs of the uniquely-labeled 16oz cans won’t be around for another year or two for us ‘Sconnie folk. The brewery can hardly keep up with the demand by our beer-drinking neighbors to the West in the Twin Cities market. For now, we’ll have to settle for the few select bars that do offer this delicious beer.
4. Beer Sampling
Keep an eye out for our featured beer sampling this month. We’ve got something in the works, and as usual, you can get a FREE taste on Sept. 17th (the 3rd Thursday of the month).
